This is Howard's office - he has a nice view from his window - but you have to stand up to see out.
He shares this tiny office with someone else.
While on my little outting, I saw this mailbox and thought it cute - it's a miniature bulldozer !

Well...here's the end of the road to the south of Ketchikan! There is also an electrical station and a little dirt path just big enough for a small car to drive on. But, since I didn't have my "adventure buddies" (Audrey and Barbara) with me, I thought I better not go alone. (Howard was working).
This END is about 12 1/2 miles from downtown Ketchikan. At about 8 1/2 miles from downtown, the paved road becomes a hard-packed dirt and gravel road.

I was out for a drive to the end of the road south of us - and came across this deer. The "poor deer" had trouble finding a way off the road - mountain on one side - road guard rail on the other. It finally found a narrow path up the mountain.

I don't know about you, but I find that this is a strange picture - pigeons! (?) What are pigeons doing in ALASKA!!??

Another view of the cruise ship.

The first cruise ship of the season arrived last week. It is a world-cruise - originated in Dover, England, is on a 3 1/2 month cruise. The town came alive - Howard and I ate lunch down on the dock and watched as people wandered around and visited all the shops (which are now open). The whole time we have been here most of the stores have been closed - so the place looked deserted. But the cruise people brought it to life.

This is another view of the totem poles and the clinic.

Totem Poles!

This is a side view of the tribal community building - with totem poles. The gentleman who carved these is one of Howard's patients. He has done numerous carvings around town - and is quite well known here for this talent. The middle pole reaches to the fourth floor!

Hey! I'm back! Sorry for taking so long to post again on this blog. This image is a view of the front of the clinic where Howard works. Sorry about getting the truck in there. His office is on the third floor, right about in the middle of the building. The whole building is dedicated to the Alaskan Indian Tribe - they have all kinds of government -related programs for them out of this building.
Facing this building and to the left is the hospital.
This street is the main street in Ketchikan. It goes from one end to the other and is located right next to the waterway.
